In Tamil literary circles, we often romanticize “the gathering.” We imagine packed halls, attentive listeners, and intense debates. But let us be brutally honest.
There are times when a literary speech happens in the heart of the city — inside a book fair, surrounded by stalls, writers, publishers, and readers — yet the chairs in the auditorium remain empty. It happens. Even in prime literary spaces. Even among “serious” readers.
And still, the speech matters.
This is where Shruti TV becomes crucial.
Even when there is no audience in the hall, Shruti TV is there, camera set, sound checked, recording with care. That very speech, unheard by the crowd walking past, later reaches thousands of viewers worldwide. Personally, I prefer their videos for their speed, clarity, and straightforward presentation. Especially the Shruti TV Literature Channel, which has quietly become an important digital platform for Tamil intellectual discourse.
This is not just videography.
This is cultural responsibility.
Kudos to Kabilan and his dedicated team. In many cases, the attention a speech or a writer receives is because Shruti TV chose to press “record.”
That matters.
